A true Ibiza lover, we were originally drawn to Maya because we could tell we loved the same Ibiza: rustic and real.
Maya’s spent much of her adult life living and working in Ibiza. When we did our Ibiza magazine in 2015, she (and Mixmag’s Ralph Moore, who she worked with on the renowned Pacha Magazine for years) were our first calls.
As a travel journalist, she contributes to titles such as Condé Nast Traveller, the Telegraph and the Guardian, and she is the author of the always-sold out coffee table book Ibiza Bohemia, published by Assouline in 2017.
Maya’s father was one of Ibiza’s original long-haired hippies, living in a candlelit commune near Sol d’en Serra in the late 1960s. Maya grew up transfixed by tales of the island and is an avid student of Ibiza’s history and ethnography. CASAGAÍA is her first foray into design.
“I’m a very visual person and I love to make things. I’ve spent a decade writing about Ibiza, reimagining the island with words, but now CASAGAÍA is my very personal tribute to the way I see the island. The hand painted motifs – Dalt Vila, the fisherman’s huts, a llaüt bobbing offshore – those are the elements of Ibiza that sing to me. That’s what I see when I close my eyes and breathe.”
CASAGAÍA is a line of printed textiles and accessories for home, beach and life.
